The weather is a small talk thing in the Netherlands. It is so dynamic that you can talk with anyone about it and they will always join.
What happened to me was complete strangers started talking about the weather but I didn’t understand a word and had to excuse myself. That made things awkward. Really awkward. Just imagine someone telling you how nice the weather is and you respond with sorry, no dutch here. It is not nice. So let’s fix that, shall we?

We talk about the weather usually in terms of how it makes us feel. Does it ruin our plans? Or is it perfect for our vacation? We are also comparing the weather with previous years and between different locations. Nowadays, with climate change and weather instability, disasters the weather causes are becoming more and more the subject. It is a broad subject and it hardly can be covered in one post.
