How to talk to Dog People in Dutch

If you have a dog then the other dog people will soon become your first and most often contact. Most of them are super friendly and will be willing to talk to you immediately. So here is some vocabulary and some useful expressions for you on your dog walk

Welk ras is dat?
What breed is that?

Mijn hond kan niet overweg met andere reuen/teven.
My dog does not get along with other male/ female dogs.

Bijt het?
Does it bite?

Hij/zij bijt niet.
He /she does not bite

Hij blaft alleen.
He just barks.

Hij is zeer vriendelijk met mensen/kinderen.
He is very friendly with people / children

Mag ik mijn hond hier uitlaten zonder leiband?
Can i walk my dog without a leash here?

Is een leiband verplicht?
Is a leash mandatory?

Mijn hond is oud. Hij is 12 jaar oud..
My dog is old He is 12 jears old

Hij is nog een puppy.
He is still a puppy

Hij is bijna blind. Hij kan alleen jou ruiken
He is almost blind. He can only smell you.

Hij kan niet erg goed zien
He can’t see very well

Hij is bang voor alles
He is scared of everything

Hij slaapt de hele dag
He sleeps all day


Hij zit vol energie
He is full of energy

Hij kauwt op onze schoenen
He chews on our shoes

Hij leeft om te apporteren
He lives to play fetch.
